the middle of one? Researchers have demonstrated the ability to use piezoelectric nanowires made of zinc oxide to convert 100-decibel
sound to a 50-millivolt AC current. If the team can refine the innovation so that a current can be generated at 70 dB and below (the loudest
humans speak in normal conversation), cellphone users would be able to charge their phones just by speaking into them.
