The depiction of the oil lamp in this stained glass window is symbolic of the Word of God, namely, the Scriptures. The Scriptures illuminate for us the nature of God, as well as the plan God has for us, as we read in the Book of Psalms, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path" (119:105).
All the windows in the church are made from mouth-blown glass from Germany, France, and England. The background glass is a special streaky white opal. It has both a transparent and translucent quality that allows the viewer an awareness of the beautiful wooded site of the church building, but at the same time draws the eye back to the action of the liturgy.
