Ambo

The ambo is an elevated pulpit from which the Scriptures are proclaimed during the Liturgy of the Word in the celebration of the Mass. The dignity of the word of God requires that the ambo is permanent, and easy for the Assembly to turn their attention toward during the Liturgy of the Word. Our ambo matches the altar, in that it is also made of limestone.

The word "ambo" comes from the Greek, "an elevation."
