On one wall of the baptistery hangs a cross containing the Risen Christ. We recall the words of Jesus: "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die" (John 11:25). Trusting and remaining faithful to Jesus, we know that death is not the end of our existence; in and through Christ, we will live forever. As a sign of our trust in Christ's promise, we place crosses with the names of our beloved dead beneath the cross containing the Risen Christ, commending them to the Lord of Life and praying that they enjoy the peace of Christ. These small crosses are of those who have died since the last Feast of All Souls (November 2nd), and are returned to the family in a special memorial Mass for the deceased in early November.
