The troop went to explore Laurel Caverns during Aug12-14, 2016. This was an exciting camp outing for the scouts. The scouts had a day of adventure. We had a great tour of lower cave on Saturday morning with an informative, experienced guide. In the afternoon we worked on the Forestry Merit Badge.
Laurel Caverns is Pennsylvania's largest cave with over three miles of natural passages in the beautiful mountains of the Laurel Highlands . The cave’s formations also created some passages that are really cramped. Laurel Caverns follows the natural slope of the mountain. The lower deck was very pretty. In the cave the temperature was around 50F.
It was a 3 hour drive from Solon. It is located about 50 miles south East of Pittsburg, PA.
