カエル類は昆虫類にとって重要な天敵です。ニホンヒキガエル、ナガレヒキガエル、トノサマガエル、ダルマガエル、ツチガエル、ウシガエル、ヌマガエル、ニホンアマガエルなどを捕食者として、昆虫類(ゴミムシ類、ハネカクシ類、サシガメ類、ガムシ類、ハチ類、ハバチ類幼虫、チョウ幼虫)の被食防衛行動を調査してきました。
