Leaf miners

Leaves of most plant species are mined by several species of insects. Leaf-mining habits have evolved in four insect orders: Diptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera. We have studied the life history of leaf-mining insects to clarify plant-insect interactions and population ecology of herbivores.
