When working with historical information; creating a list of vocabulary words with definitions is important to assisting the students in understanding how to apply the words appropriately in reading and essay assignments. The vocabulary list also gives the students a reference point, while working on homework assignments outside of the classroom. The vocabulary list will also assist the student in raising his/her own level of learning, while building their own range of cognitive understanding.

Vocabulary building is essential to a students learning achievement and by using words from the information being presented; the student will have the ability to repetitively hear/use the word, thus allowing him/her to remember the word and appropriate definition. I believe a student needs to have repetitive vocabulary skill building too gain a firm understanding of terminology presented in the classroom. Some vocabulary words and definitions can be tough to decipher and remember, but by using a repetitive approach to all vocabulary words; a student can gain a working knowledge of words presented in the classroom.
