Students need to cognitively separate questions and potential answers on tests and quizzes. I separated each question to assist students to understand what the question is asking and to better help them pick the correct answer. Although this is not done on regents examinations; as we move forward, the space between questions and answers will diminish. This slow adjustment will allow the students to cognitively adjust over time rather than shocking their system and allowing the student to struggle separating the information. The classroom average on the test was 80%.
The items attached will show a review sheet, rubric, test and a modified test on the American Revolution. The test was approximately 19 pages long and included 35 multiple choice questions, 5 paragraph completion with a word bank attached, 5 documents with scaffolding questions & 1 essay question. Also attached is the grading rubric used to grade the test essay.
