Welcome,
Please let me take a few moments and introduce myself to you. My name is Scott Lane, and I graduated from Le Moyne College with a Masters of Science in Teaching. Education is an important part of my life as a lifelong learner, and I hope to nstile this philosophy in the students placed in my classroom.
I believe that children of all ages should have educators in the classroom who understand the challenging learning abilities which they face daily. Maintaining all student IEP's, 504 Plans and maintaining student requirements; should always be on an educators mind, thus granting the student a productive educational day.
Using this philosophy has allowed me to pay close attention to students in a regular educational program, self-contained and blended environment. Whether a child has an IEP Plan, 504 Plan or is in a regular education program, I believe, one should pay close attention to the work presented by the student, which will allow all academic needs to be met. Students in all areas of an educational environment should be given the opportunity to shine and when he/she shines one needs to highlight the accomplishment (s) and encourage each and every child, regardless of academic abilities, to continuously reach for the stars.
Using this perspective has allowed me to pay close attention to the students as individuals, which allows the student to receive a personal approach to their academics while in the classroom. Although this approach is important to a successful academic day for the student, one should also maintain a continuous open dialogue with the student's parental advocate. As an educator, I have had the ability to highlight student classroom success with the parental advocate of students in my classroom. I have also given parental advocates my work e-mail address, so they have the ability to contact me in case I/they are unable to make a phone call. This allows the parental advocate to maintain a 24 hour access to the teacher as well as their child's (rens') academic success. Classroom connections between the Teacher/Student & the Parental Advocate allow everyone to work as a team to ensure each and every student has a high success rate in and out of the classroom.
