Georgia Tech and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs work together to help students understand the career which best fits them and provide them with the tools to pursue it.
What can students do with a degree in international affairs?
International affairs graduates pursue careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. From our curriculum, students acquire knowledge of international government policies, economics, security, and development, as well as analytic and technical (modeling simulation, quantitative research, GIS) skills which make them very attractive to companies, state agencies, and organizations with an international focus.
Many graduates are attracted to public sector careers. They go on to work at the CIA, FBI, International Trade Administration, and the US State Department, among other federal and state government agencies.
Our graduates are also valued in the private sector. They are hired as consultants and supply chain analysts, by companies such as the Coca-Cola Company, Booz Allen Hamilton, Goldman Sachs, Home Depot, and IBM.
In addition, graduates put their skills to good use for nonprofit or non-governmental organizations such as Amnesty International, the Carter Center, the Heritage Foundation, The Alliance to Save Energy and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
A host of resources are available to help students determine what career path they will embark upon:
Course
INTA 2001, Careers in International Affairs, is offered every spring semester. This course reinforces career development and planning process for international affairs majors. Topics covered include: facilitation of decision-making skills, job search strategies, self-assessment, and overview from industry speakers. All Nunn School undergraduates are required to take this course.
Advising & Counseling
Career counseling is available to help students pinpoint their strengths and limitations, specific career interests, and the type of work environment they would excel in.
