Frederick Stanley Rubidge, secretary of the Glenridge Coal Company, died on July 19, at Ottawa, Ill. Death was the result of pulmonary tuberculosis, from which he had suffered for a matter of two years.
Mr. Rubidge was born July 29, 1870, and moved to Chicago in 1888, or at the age of eighteen, when he accepted a position in the freight offices of the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad Company, being connected with Mr. Broughton. He remained on the road until 1893 when he accepted a position with the L. E. Overman Company, where he remained for three years, or until 1896.
In the latter year, he took a position with the Riverton Coal Company, where he remained for three years, and in 1899 was made secretary and treasurer of the Brazil Block Coal Company, with headquarters at Brazil, Ind. Even at that time he was in poor health and as climatic conditions at Brazil did not agree with him, he returned to Chicago in 1900, and accepted a position with E. Puttkamer, when the latter formed the Glenridge Coal Company, of which Mr. Rubidge was made secretary.
Mr. Rubidge was a member of the Republic Lodge No. 914, A. F. and A. M.; of Forestville Chapter No. 177 O. E. S., and of the Press Council No. 71, National Union.
