Under the heading of “ The children of Alfred Portlock Rubidge and Elizabeth Brook”, there are 2 corrections:-
*Adeline Hannah and her husband, G. Peacock, made a 6 month trek by ox-cart in 1892, to Rhodesia, through rough and hostile country. 1 known daughter (Gladys)
*Isobelle Ira Gilmour, 1872 – 1960, married 3 times and eventually settled in Rhodesia.

Hinemoa Dixie Deacon married 3 times:-
m (i) George Eastwood: 2 children, George and Norma. George Junior was in the RAF in WW2 and won the DFC and bar. Subsequently President of the Rhodesian Tobacco Growers Association.

Idonie married 6 times and when married to her 5th husband , Robert Jackson, stood trial for shooting her lover, Harvey Staunton. She had previously made an epic journey by Jeep from London to S. Africa, with her 6-month old baby.
*Portlock William, 13-9-1858( Surrey, England) - 13-9-1924 (Graaf Reinet).
Served in the Kaffir War (wounded in the leg by an assegai) and the Anglo-Boer War ( captive for a time). Member of the “Old Brigade” of the Voor Sneeuwberg Rangers in 1879. Acquired “Corndale” farm, south of Graaff Reinet, and farmed ostriches.
Married Georgina Jacobus Geel ( 1867 – 1950), an Afrikaaner, 7-9-1886, in Graaff Reinet.

Gault Calwell, doctor; graduated from Royal University of Ireland, and was medical officer on Robbin Island and Mafeking.
They sailed for England from Algoa Bay on 25-7-14 on the S.S. Galician, which was captured on 14-8-14, by Germans on the Konig Wilhelm der Grosse, off the Canary Islands. Ada detailed their experiences in letters to her mother, the originals of which are in the archives of the Imperial War Museum, London.
She remained in Northern Ireland, returning for some holidays to S. Africa.
She was the first president of the Irish Ladies Bowling Association in 1947, and was captain of the Irish Women's Bowling Team.
