Funeral Services for David Rubidge Will Be Held Tonight
Pioneer Business Man in Denver Founded Three Loan Associations
Funeral services for David Rubidge, pioneer real estate man of Denver, who died March 8 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wallace P. Cohoe at Riverdale on the Hudson, N.Y. will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. John's cathedral. The service will be conducted by Dean Duncan H. Browne, and interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Rubidge was born in Peterboro, Ont., Oct. 14, 1846, and married Sarah Taber of Scarboro, Ont., in 1872. He came to the United States in 1870, gaining employment with the Kansas Pacific railroad. In 1871 he was transferred to Denver from State Line, Kan., and was chief clerk and cashier of the road in this city until the late seventies. He then entered real estate and later the building and loan business. Mr. Rubidge founded three building and loan associations here, and was secretary-treasurer of the Standard Real Estate and investment company, a position he held until his death. One of the founders of St. John's Episcopal Church, he was treasurer of the Episcopate fund, diocese of Colorado, for thirty five years.
Mr. Rubidge is survived by two brothers, Robert H. and Earnest Rubidge of Denver, three sons, William D., of 152 West Maple avenue, Denver. Frederick T., of Mountain Lake, N.J. and Harold S. of Oakland Calif. and two daughters Mrs. Wallace P. Cohoe, with whom he had spent the last two years and Mrs. Wilfred P. Browning of San Diego, Calif.
