    • The fonds consists of original documents relating to Captain Charles Rubidge, including an "Autobiographical Sketch" (1870); certificates and papers relating to his service in the Royal Navy (1801-1841); assorted correspondence including a letter to Sir Francis Bond Head where Rubidge indicates that he, "...has been engaged to undertake the charge and superintendence of a considerable number of families to be sent...to the Newcastle District.."(1839), and a letter from Peter Robinson at York, where Robinson confirms that he "communicated to His Excellency the Lt. Gov. your [Rubidge's] acceptance of the situation of Agent ot reside at Peterborough for the purpose of Superintending the settlement of Emigrants...", (1831); a document outlining details an auction of Town Lots in Peterborough and other papers relating Rubidge's life and family including a sketch book by Mary Rubidge with a sketch of "The Beehive", Verulam (1862) and various financial records relating to Captain Rubidge and John Rubidge.

    • An artificially compiled collection of rare books in the PCMA's book collection. The collection includes early editions of books by Catherine Parr Traill, Frances Stewart, Susanna Moodie; Agnes Strickland; Charles Locke Eastlake's "Hints on Household Taste"; an Oetzmann furniture catalogue (1878 ca.); early plan books, catalogues and journals on architecture (many owned by local architect and engineer T.A.S. Hay); books on medicine, nature, the military; books by local poets, local historians and authors; early books owned by members of the Rubidge family.

    • A petition to Sir Francis Bond Head, on behalf of Robert C. Taylor, Master of the Government School in Peterborough. The document is signed by Peter Robinson, Dr John Hutchison, Charles Rubidge, G.B. Hall, Thomas A. Stewart, W. Dunbar Moodie, J.B. Fortune and 52 other leading citizens of Peterbourgh, and by Bishop John Strachan, Archdeacon of York; circa 1835.
    • 89-001 HOWARD PAMMETT FONDS 1820 1975
    • A vast collection of both original and photocopied papers, maps, photographs, plans, pamphlets and books compiled by local historian, Howard Pammett. The material has been arranged into eight series: (1) Pammett correspondence (1940's-1970's) which relate to Pammett's career with the Department of Labour and his involvment with the Japanese-Canadian internment programme during World War Two; (2) Pammett's historical research files (1930's-1970's) including newspaper articles, lecture notes and material related to his M.A. thesis on Peter Robinson, original correspondence of Adam Scott, Richard Birdsall, Charles Rubidge and others, with Peter Robinson, photocopies of the Sessional Papers of the legislatures of Ontario and Canada (1840-1909); (3) original papers of the Mossom Boyd Sr. and other members of the Boyd family of Bobcaygeon together with Pammett's research notes and commentaries. These papers provide insights into the lumbering, land speculation, cattle, Trent Canal and navigation activities of the Boyd family of Bobcaygeon. Of particular note are correspondence between Boyd and architect John E. Belcher, Trent Canal engineer, R.B. Rogers, William Cluxton and George A. Cox; Mossom M. Boyd's diary (1872-1908) where Boyd makes reference to Haley's Comet, his first ride in automobile plus several other events; 4) newspaper clippings and periodicals related to local history; (5) over 500 archival photographs; (6) maps, survey drawings and plans primarily related Mossom Boyd land holdings and the Trent Canal, including extensive reports on Boyd House, Bobcaygeon with floor plans and photographs for Historic Sites and Monuments Board (1969); (7) posters, prints, pamphlets, catalogues and ephemera including an invitation to the Official Opening of the Hydraulic Lift Lock (1904), posters for the Trent Valley Navigation Company; signed booklet on the "New Canadian Trans-Continental Railway by Sandford Fleming (1903); (8) an extensive library collection of reference books related to the Peterborough area.

    • An extensive collection of stereographic cards. At least 68 images in this collection consist of early Peterborough cityscapes, downtown streetscapes; local schools (particularly Central School); churches (St John's, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church); other local structures (including Court House, William English house, Sheridan house, hand-tinted view of the Rubidge family having tea, Examiner building, wrought iron bridge on Hunter street, Dixon's Dam); people (Peterborough County Council and Officers, 1863); several landscapes at Stoney Lake, dam at High Falls, Victoria Park, Jackson Park and other natural areas in Peterborogh county. Many were taken by well known local photographers such as R.D. Ewing, G.B. Sproule, J. Little and R. Meade. Some are hand-tinted.
