Below are some examples of renowned artists's portraiture. Mrs Robinson will be presenting these artists and then you need to pick one or several styles that are here and do two portraits of anyone you want. It would be wonderful to have one be a self portrait. Do your research and notice details. You will be writing a short artist statement when your portraits are completed. On the statement you will explain your choice of artist's style or period of art that you chose to study and be influenced by in your own portraits.

Picasso's Weeping Woman and Marie-Therese, below, shows a face from multiple angles. Notice the use of pattern in the Weeping Woman with the sharp pointy angles that create discomfort, versus the softness that is created with the roundedness of Marie-Therese below.

Philip Burke's work is an example of combining the wild colors that Matisse and other Fauve painters used and Picasso's distortion of form as well as Picasso's idea of showing multiple sides of a face at one time.
