Product Design Class
This class builds on the knowledge from Art and Graphic Design; it focuses on industrial uses of art, illustration, and design. Students will develop and design products that can be sold online to understand a currently wide expanding career in the Arts focusing on industry uses. Students will explore the design process, production, and marketing of these products. This goes beyond graphic design into actual product design/industrial design. It goes beyond engineering as it focuses on the art/design aspects of compelling art and effective design. Prerequisite of Art 1-2 or Graphic Design 1-2.
Work Skills: In addition to encompassing traditional art mediums, students will be learning Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Painter, Art & Design Skills, Marketing, Online Store Development Possibilities, Understanding of different materials and the strength of these materials when it comes to designing for specific materials such as wood, fabric, paper etc. They will learn Engineering skills such as product control and manufacturing one-of-a-kind objects and the steps to mass produce, laser cutting, sewing, screen printing. It will include learning how to make a seamless border for never ending patterns on fabrics, web site design, and animation. Students will be developing an online store or site, learning online safety protocols and tech safety procedures, in addition to caring for and running expensive equipment like laser cutters, sewing machines, and vinyl cutters.
