ASSIGNMENT: READ ALL BELOW BEFORE STARTING

The message must be a positive one for the larger community as these will hang in the commons area during valentines week.Ā
Students will create a design that wraps around all sides of the heart.Ā
There are 2 examples up at the front of the room under the video screen.Ā
Do not use type except on the lower heart message that will hang below.Ā
Watch Origami history.Ā
Steps to create: 1) cut out heart and be exact on the solid lines you can look at the cut out examples I left the sub, 2) score the dotted lines, this means lines are embossed with a ball point pen on the dotted lines to allow exact folding, 3) fold all lines in toward the penned embossed lines, 4) paint and create design on the blank side of the heart, 5) Hot glue each heart so it becomes a 3D curved shape and then, 6) glue fishing wire with paper holder onto top and bottom of inside of 1 side of heart, 7) Glue both sides together. Ask for help with glueing as it must be done exactly right for heart to work.
there is a video below that shows how to assemble the heart once it is painted - not before!!!Ā
Students are encouraged to also add 3D elements onto the heart. To get 3D element ideas, please watch the videos under Pop Up Books below.Ā
Grading Rubric is below the heart construction video on this page.
