In this assignment you will need the following:
A super fine line sharpie
8 x 11inch piece of paper, printer paper is fine or use the paper I gave you in class
A pencil
Your hand or other animal part to draw
Instructions:
Watch part of the video on fast forward to understand drawing pattern and go to ZENTANGLE online to get ideas for patterns and creating volume with pattern. (You don't need to watch the whole video because it is too long and you will get the idea in just a couple of minutes.)
LIGHTLY draw your hand on paper with pencil, You can trace it if you like but make sure you stretch your hand and part of your arm across the whole page from top to bottom length wise. You can also pick another animal to draw instead, but it must be large.
Now with your pencil, LIGHTLY draw CURVING contour lines across the width of the hand showing the VOLUME of the hand, fingers and arm.
You will then create pattern in the width contour lines using positive and negative space. ONLY PUT PATTERN ON THE THING YOU ARE DRAWING NOT ON THE SURROUNDING SPACE. That surrounding space will be used to create type on the computer when we return and so it needs to be empty. We will be scanning your drawings and then creating posters that we will print.
Notice the patterns move around the fish, elephant and bird in contour curves giving the animals volume.
