Utica, NY (PRWEB) January 25, 2013  -- On April 13th, 2013 at 11 a.m., the first annual CNY Walk for the Wounded Warriors will be held at the Odyssey Sport Soccer Club, 90 East Seneca St Sherrill NY 13461.  The Odyssey Sport Soccer Club, CyberVillage Veterans, Big Paw Photography and Meow Bow Wow, joined forces to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Rob Thrasher, Founder of CyberVillage commented, "My family and I spend a lot of time on various walks and events but I wanted something more ‘near and dear’ to our hearts. As a veteran I hold the military in special regard and I believe that the most impact we can have is through the Wounded Warrior Project. The Wounded Warrior Project has so many ways you can use their tools and website to hold fundraisers. I also envisioned an event with a very low cost to participate. At five dollars per person, or ten per family, I think we nailed it. The primary goal is to get as many military-caring families together as possible, raise a little money and just have fun!"

The event, according to Thrasher, is a first of its kind for CyberVillage and Odyssey, with a mission to positively affect the Upstate New York region. Thrasher continued, "My goal is to hold dozens of events like this one across Upstate New York. We currently have a brand new volunteer, my sister Sheryl Thrasher, from Meow Bow Wow pet sitting and walking who will be a coordinator for the event. Odyssey Sport Soccer Club, an official photographer - Big Paws Photography. We also have several entertainers and speakers to round out the event. In short, we're going to have a blast. If the participants enjoy the event and we raise a little money for the Wounded Warrior Project, we'll do it again! OH YEAH, my other goal was to do it all inside!"

Thrasher continued, “The funds from the event will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project which is based in Washington D.C., which helps veterans returning from all wars and who are from all across the United States. Join the event by visiting the website, or by calling the numbers listed below. Checks made out to the Wounded Warrior Project are preferred. We recently added Good Guys Broadcasting, Inc. as a media partner and we thank them for their help. Tune in to WUSP 95.5FM/1550AM or WRCK 1480AM to listen to local sports, New York Mets and New England Patriots.”

“I can also announce that Mary Plante will volunteer her time to be our Organization Director. Mary will interact with legions, rotary clubs, biker clubs and any organization that generally support our military, our mission and the freedom and security of the United States of America. Thank you for your support Mary and good luck in all your efforts” - Rob Thrasher
