Keefe Stranded Colorwork
Keefe Tech from 6:30-9. Wednesdays, September 18- October 23, 2024
Stranded colorwork is done carrying one or more additional colors (hence the strands) and is done entirely in the round. You may use any weight or type of yarn you wish, although wool yarn will make your colorwork smooth since it has give and can be blocked. You can choose any pattern you wish, but if you want to get the pattern done quickly you might want to start with a hat (larger items and larger yarn are usually easier to do. Small circumference knitting (double-pointed, magic loop, etc) are not the best tools to start with if you want a smooth finish. In this class you will learn how to knit stranded colorwork including how to carry your yarn, what is color dominance, how to keep loose strand tension, how to swiss darn, and how to steek (you do NOT have to steek your projects).
Below are some sample projects. Feel free to contact instructor with your own ideas. The first day of class you can bring needles and a few colors of yarn ( in a size that will work with your needles) to practice if you do not have a project picked out yet.
