Icelandic Knitting
Keefe Icelandic Knitting
Keefe Tech from 6:30-9. Wednesdays, September 21 - November 2, 2016
Icelandic Knitting is a form of stranded color-work done entirely in the round. Traditionally it uses bulky Iceland wool (Lopi) and is knit bottom up, although recent patterns include the use of sport-weight and worsted weight yarns and top-down construction. Commonly made items include hats, mittens and yoked sweaters. In this class you will learn Icelandic construction, including how to knit stranded color-work, do short-rows, graft stitches, swiss darn, and steek your work (you do NOT have to steek your projects).
Below are some sample projects. Also check out the following: Istex Free Designs and patterns from The Best of Lopi.
