5. The Chairman’s annual report: It has been quite a busy year and up to date this year we have 65 gigs booked giving us the grand total of 843 gigs performed since Pluckers started in 2009. Yes, we do keep count. I would like to thank all Pluckers who have gigged this year, without you we would not be able to support our local charities the way we do. A special thanks to the committee plus Liz who with her other groups, The Taverners & The Aukland Strummers, has added a considerable amount to our charitable totals.
6. Financial Matters - Presentation and adoption of accounts. The treasurer circulated several copies of the Spread Sheet for year ending 30 September 2024. This continued to show regular activity. The bank balances at 30th September 2024 totalled £7003.
The income for PP for the Financial Year was as follows:
Income from fees and donations at gigs, including The Taverners’ gigs £353
Donations £2167
Interest £ 50
TOTAL RAISED FOR THE PLUCKERS CHARITABLE USE £5747
6. Financial Matters The Chairman advised that he and another committee member (Liz) had thoroughly checked the accounts and found them to be a true representation of Pompey Plucker funds. The chairman advised the AGM that, after discussion, the committee proposed that the amount to be donated to each of our two charities should be £2750. This would leave £1500 as a reasonable amount to cover contingencies such as further equipment replacement.
7. Selection of local charity/charities to support.
In 2022 we agreed to adopt two local charities - each for two years - Solent Diabetes Association and Moving On Project Portsmouth. There was therefore a need to select a new charity this year.
Members proposed two local charities, and a short presentation was made supporting each. The chairman proposed and the AGM unanimously agreed to adopt the two new charities, each for two years They are St Mag’s Pantry, Highland Road, Southsea and Buckland Park Play Centre, Malins Road, Portsmouth.
8. Changes to the group’s constitution: There were no proposed changes to the constitution.
9. Election of the committee – Most of the committee had agreed to stand again.
Paul White, who was seconded by Elaine Halsey, was unanimously elected to the committee. Mick Whelan stood down as chairman, a new chairman will be elected at the next committee meeting. He will however remain on the committee.
10. Any Other Business. It was suggested that Pompey Pluckers become more proactive in promoting the group to keep new players joining. Kev has since forwarded a poster for the committee to consider at the next meeting which could be used in pubs for example.
11. Date of next AGM: It was agreed that the next AGM be held on Thursday 2nd October 2025.
The Chairman thanked everybody for attending and for their contributions to the AGM and duly closed the meeting at 1950.
