Surfing:
There is nothing that feels as good as a paddle session after work in the summer, or as refreshing weekend surfing on a warm winter day. I have a 6'8" short board, and a 9'2" longboard, with a few fun boards for friends. After a few years of surfing, I got a 2 person ocean kayak for those days that its just not great for surfing, or just to bring a buddy along for the ride!
Martial Arts: As a young child, I trained in koei kan karate. When I was looking for a winter activity to keep me in shape, I thought this would be fun. I trained for a year in Tae Kwon Do, this really helped my flexibility. After a year, I had gotten the basics, and I wanted to train with weapons, and do contact sparring. I finally found that at "Modern Bujutsu Goju Karate" in Ocean City. Here I trained under Sensi Bob McCann, John Grosso, Tony Morano, & Russel Snow. I also enjoyed doing an occasional "fight night" with Sensei Robert DelRoss. Sensei McCann nominated me for the EUSAIMAA Dedication to Martial Arts Award at the annual Black Belt Banquet. Due to the economy, and Hurricane Flooding, the Ocean City Dojo closed its doors.
I continued to Train with Sensi McCann until I relocated to Florida for work. I took a year off from regular training as I looked for a new school. I tried a boxing gym, judo classes, and an MMA class. In September 2014 I found a Modern Goju Dojo in Palm Bay with Sensi Bill Wahne.
Mud Runs: I started needing to run for martial arts tests, and to this day hate running. But if I need to do it, I prefer trail running, and the best of all are mud runs with obstacles! I've been doing about two mud runs a year, always with friends. I'll do a 5k if someone twists my arm into it, but my goal still remains to get under 25 minutes.
