Charles Mazzotti didn't have an easy start in life. The son of a single mother, he was raised by his aunt Rosina. He lost his mother when he was fifteen.
At sixteen Charles was a servant in South Lynn. Did his grandfather Pellegrino, who lived in Wisbech, find him the position in Lynn?
Nine years later, John Charles Mazzotti married Mahala Bailey Cole at a Roman Catholic Church in Devon. He was a plumber.
John Charles and Mahala had six children, three of whom lived into adulthood: two sons (Charles Henry and Theodore) and a daughter (Lena). Both sons had families and continued the Mazzotti line. Lena never married.
John Charles died on 28 March 1913, working as a plumber at the World Expo in Ghent, Belgium.
Mahala Bailey Mazzotti died in 1934 at the age of 94.
