Mage Knight 5th August 2012

Bright sunny Sunday afternoon. Perfect day for a little board games. And what better game to kick off Pavvo's inaugural Play-by-Play session than with the award winning board game - Mage Knight!

The players opted to go the full monty and chose the Full Conquest scenario!! A full complete game of Mage Knight lasting 3 days and 3nights, or whenever both cities have been conquered

Players

Pavvo playing Tovak

Darthraider playing Norowas

Day 1

The day started off relatively uneventful with a few orcs surrounding the portal and a nearby village and ruins in the distant

Pavvo took the first turn of the day (by choosing Planning) and elected to only walk 2 spaces and saved the rest of his hand.

Darthraider took this opportunity to spur forward 6 spaces into the nearby town. Running out of cards after performing his move, Darthraider ended his turn too.

The next turn saw Pavvo running into town alongside Darthraider and recruiting the one of the available units - Utem Guardsmen.

Darthraider spent his turn recruiting the Herbalist.

The following turn saw both combatants head out into the wild to battle the rampaging orcs.

Darthraider took the initial brunt by confronting the orc summoner near the town. Not a good start as the summoner brought out a burly minotaur to try to take down the hero After having survived the brutal attack, Darthraider managed to pummel the summoner and earned his first level up.

Not wanting to be undone, Pavvo surged into the nearby ruins in hopes of gaining an artifact. He did not expect to find orc wolf riders and a giant worm guarding the place. After suffering brutal hits from both monsters, Pavvo killed both of them and claimed his prize - a Red Ruby Ring. After suffering a massive blow of 5 wounds, Pavvo was knocked out and had to miss 2 rounds!

The next few turns, both heroes spent healing off all their wounds through herbalists and tranquilities.

The end of Day 1 saw Darthraider moving alongside the keep to sneak a peek at the guards within. The keep revealed a monstrosity with 5 physical resistance!

Pavvo elected to move into the nearby town to try to cleanse his wounds by paying influence to heal.

Night 1

Darthraider took his first turn of the night by assaulting the keep! After blocking an easy 2 damage, he managed to plow through enough damage using boosted attacks.

Pavvo rushed out of town, fully healed into a waiting orc engineer and easily wiped the floor with him.

Darthraider spent his movement opening up more areas of the map and recruiting his 2nd unit - Ultem Swordsman

Pavvo took advantage of the open area and charged forward to reveal another map, exposing another orc marauder. After effortless dispatching both revealed orcs, Pavvo decided to call it a night by declaring end of round.

End of Round 1

Day 2

The day started with Pavvo exploring the nearby monastery, recruiting some Savage Monks and revealing another orc summoner. Pavvo engaged the summoner and dispatched him with range attacks even before he could summon his minions.

Darthraider sensed that Pavvo was way too far ahead and opted to seek another route, setting his sights towards the east.

Pavvo spent his next turn exploring and found the first city of the game - The Emerald City! Who knows what fear some guards await within....

Not willing to risk the unknown, Pavvo opted to lay siege to the nearby mage tower and earned his first spell - Burning Shield! Exploring the ruins behind the mage tower the next turn also proved as Pavvo traded 3 fire crystals for 7 xp!!

Darthraider also began exploring and soon revealed the second city - the Magical City! and a mighty dragon atop the peaks nearby!

Day 2 ended with both heroes on different parts of the map, each battling his own demons!

Night 2

Pavvo took the first turn of the night, by exploring further. He encountered a mighty Acid Dragon but managed to BURN him down with ease with the aid of his Burning Shield spell!Darthraider marched into the nearby city and entertained the villages enough to earn a Heroic Tale

The time has come! Both heroes look to be well prepared enough. The remainder of the night was spent resting and preparing for the upcoming city sieges. Both heroes needed to successfully capture both cities in order to secure a foothold in the region.

Day 3

After spending the night marching back towards the Emerald City, Pavvo laid siege to it the first chance he got! The defenders emerged from the city gates, eager to defend their mighty city!

Using the Savage monks, Pavvo dispatched the harpy even before she managed to attack. The crossbowmen bolts met the Utem Guardsman armored and shrugged them off with ease. Pavvo used his innate ability to shrug off the cold fire damage from the wights and with a mighty blow put down the evil being.

However, he did not have enough to finish off the crossbowmen and had to call off his attack till the next turn.

Darthraider, not wanting to be left out, also assaulted the nearby Magic City! Red Utem guardsmen! A summoned gargoyle! And a host of heavy infantrymen were waiting on at the gates!

Using all his cards in hands, and even more from his deck, Darthraider soaked the damage from both the guardsmen and the gargoyle. Like Pavvo, Darthraider did not have enough mettle left after blocking to finish off the defenders and elected to kill the guardsmen and summoner, leaving the infantrymen for the next turn.

Next turn saw both Pavvo and Darthraider finishing what they started and capturing both cities.

As both cities have been captured, both heroes had one more turn left till the end of game. Seeing as there was no nearby monsters or easy experience points to be gained, both heroes agreed to call it.
