Just a short recap of each session

Session #1 - Goblin Ambush! 21st September 2015

The adventure started when 3 travelers, unknown to each other, were hired by Gundren Rockseeker to deliver a cargo of goods to the nearby town of Phandalin.

The party consisted of 3 unlikely companions - Cavalock, a dwarven cleric, Brocc, a tiefling warlock with an agenda of his own and Jin Long, a human monk recently ordained.

Gundren initially offered no reward for the escort, claiming that the journey itself would prove an experience for these young adventures. However, upon seeing the familiar family crest of Rockseeker around Cavalocks neck, Gundren recognized the dwarf as his kin and offered the party 10gp each upon successful delivery. He then set off ahead of the party with his female barbarian bodyguard, leaving the company in the good hands of his right-hand gnome. The party dismissed the idea of getting to know their traveling companions name, as the journey was "strictly business"

Once the cargo was firmly secured and loaded, the unlikely party set off to the town of Phandalin, almost a day behind Gundren. After about half a day of travelling, the party chanced upon 2 dead horses along a cliff side

The gnome driver was the first to get off and inspect the dead horses. The rest of the party followed suit but was soon ambushed by waiting goblins!

The gnome, too surprised to react, was the first to get shot dead, an arrow right through his head.

Jin Loong was the first to strike and together with Cavalock's help managed to take down the first goblin ambusher. Hearing sounds coming from the cliffside, they readied themselves for another attack.

All Brocc could do the whole battle was fling his spells aimlessly as bolt after bolt missed their intended target!

Working together, the human and dwarf soon took out all of their attackers. With the last goblin mortally wounded by Cavalock's throwing axe, he divulged information on where to find the kidnapped dwarf and his companion.

Searching the remaining bodies, the party found a note on their gnome guide's body, instructing them to seek out Linene.

After a long rest, the party ventured forth into the undergrowth in search of their Gundren at nightfall. After skillfully avoiding some goblin tracks, they chanced upon a cave opening, surrounded by foliage.

Brocc, sensing goblins around, shot an eldritch bolt into a nearby tree, engulfing it in flames! Goblin shrieks and barking could be heard both behind the flaming foliage and from within the cave. Sensing danger, all 3 members dove into the bushes to hide.

Cavalock, however, with his clunky armor, was not able to hide in time and was soon spotted by a couple of goblin scouts. The party soon dispatched their foes, along with their accompanying guard wolf with ease.

After a short rest at the nearby campfire, they made ready for the journey within the cave. Brocc was first to enter and scouted ahead. He returned soon to warn his fellows that there was a 2nd opening which seemed to house a number of wolves. The 3 steathily made their way to the opening and saw a clearing with 3 wolves, all chained up and one lone goblin guarding them.

Cavalock devised a plan to lure the goblin out by mimicking a goblin distress call. The plan worked as the goblin untied one wolf and ran towards the cave entrance.

Jin Loong tripped the goblin as he was running out of the cave mouth, while Brocc's eldritch bolt sliced him in half before he hit the ground.

The group attempted to do the same against the large wolf, but the keen senses of the wolf avoided the ambush!

The party beared down upon the savage beast as a bloody battle ensured!

After much bloodshed, the party slew the wolf and made their way into the cavern. Still blood thirsty from the battle, Cavalock slew one of the chained wolf with a single blow. Seeing his brethren fall, the other wolf whimpered and cowered. Brocc, sensing no threat to the party, attempted to calm the wolf down and removed its restraints. The wolf heeded to both Brocc and Cavalock as the latter fed him some scraps from rations near a goblin bedside.

A further search of the room revealed shackles used to restraint a humanoid of man-height, and the scratching of the word "HELP" etched by bloody fingernails.

Leaving the wolf to guard the room, the party proceed to rest before heading further into the depths of the cave.
