If a vehicle gets inspected and the sticker on the vehicle is already expired, what should the new sticker read?

This question has come up frequently as of late. In Subchapter C it addresses this issue and states that:

"An annually inspected vehicle will receive an inspection for 1 year from the expiration of the safety inspection sticker which is about to expire, except motorcycles, which receive an expiration in accordance with charts provided by the Department. A sticker may not be issued for more than 15 months from the month of inspection. If a vehicle, other than a motorcycle, does not display a currently valid certificate of inspection, the vehicle shall receive an inspection valid for 1 year from the month of inspection."

As you can see, if an inspection sticker is already expired, once a vehicle passes, it should receive inspection for "1 year from the month of inspection". That means if a vehicle comes in for inspection in October (10), and the previous sticker expired in September (9), it should be issued a 10/17 sticker upon passing. This is true for all vehicles except motorcycles. That is because motorcycles go by a specific chart which can be found here.
