Is it a car? Is it a motorcycle? No.... it is an Autocycle!

In July of 2016, PennDOT added the definition of an "Autocycle" to their regulations. "An autocycle is defined as a three-wheeled motorcycle that has a steering wheel and seating that does not require the operator to straddle or sit astride."

While an autocycle is still considered to be a motorcycle, and is registered and inspected as a motorcycle, an operator of an autocycle is not required to have a motorcycle driver's license. A class C motor vehicle license is all that is needed to drive an autocycle, however an inspection technician still needs a CAT 2 license to inspect an autocycle.
