In order to facilitate our transition to regional teams we need you to make some small changes:
NEW CLAIMS REPORTING FROM 14 SEPTEMBER:
New claims reported from the 14 September need to be sent to the team for your region as detailed in the table below. When reporting a new claim please select your new Operational Team Leader identified in the table below. Operational Team Leaders will be in touch with you over the next couple of months to introduce themselves. Members are welcome to contact their Operational Team Leader sooner if necessary.
CNST AND LTPS combined regional teams
We have been allocated the South West Region
Operations Team Leader - Nigel Hunt Email: nigel.hunt5@nhs.net
Technical Leader - Oliver Carson
None of these changes impact on the early notification reporting, please continue to report EN cases in line with the reporting guidelines.
We have recently carried out a periodical review of the Claims Reporting Guidelines. They have been updated to reflect current practice across all schemes and set out the procedure for reporting of Early Notification claims before and after 1 April 2022.
A copy of the updated guidelines is attached for your reference and is also available on the NHS Resolution website and Extranet.
CURRENT LIVE CLAIMS REPORTED BEFORE 14 SEPTEMBER:
Any existing, live claims will continue to be managed by the current case manager to conclusion where at all possible to ensure continuity of knowledge of the case, to minimise disruption and aid a smooth the transition to regional teams.
Additional updates on the Claims Evolution Programme:
The CNST and LTPS operational claims teams move into a combined regional structure as from 14 September 2022 (phase 1 of our move into a regional claims structure). This alignment with the NHS England regions will allow us to gain new insights on claims and work more effectively with members in identifying, managing and resolving matters fairly and efficiently.
Each team has an Operational Team Leader and a Technical Leader. The Operational Team Leader role is operationally focussed, with responsibility for staff and performance management and team development.. The Technical Leaders are to be a formal referral and review point for specialist input, with accountability for the technical performance of the team. Technical Leaders will carry a caseload of more complex matters and be responsible for providing guidance and training to the team. Details of the regional teams are contained in the table above.
Our legal panel was confirmed with members informed of their allocated firm in March and April this year. The contract framework supports the new operating model and will help us ensure value for money and enable greater regional insight.
In tandem with the development of our new case management system (core system programme), we are looking at efficiencies within the claims management function to enable staff concentrate on the technical case work. This is at an early stage and we will share more detail when plans are further developed.
