Fire Safety

Parkside Medical Centre is a responsible employer and takes our fire and safety duties seriously. We have formulated a policy to help us comply with our legal obligations to staff, students and visitors under the Fire Safety Order (2005). These include the provision of a safe place of work where fire safety risks are minimized. Due to its importance, this Fire Safety Policy forms part of our overall Health and Safety Policy. Our priority at all times is the safety of individuals.

The information guidance below is an expert from the Policy, therefore you are expected to read the Policy in its entirety annually.

 Responsible Persons:

• • Undertaking fire risk assessments;

  • Overseeing fire contracts;

  • Organising fire safety training;

  • Organising fire drills;

  • Coordinating an evacuation in the event of a fire;

  • Record keeping

 In the Event of a False Alarm

1. If you set off the Alarm by mistake please take the following actions immediately:

2.  Telephone the Monitoring Station on 0871 246 0080 (This number is on a sticker above the security keypad at the back door).

3.  Tell them you have activated the alarm in error and the password to confirm you are a member of staff is available from Amanda Keuneman, Reception Manager, or Lisa Baldwin, Practice Manager. (Do not write this password on the sticker or anywhere near the door).

4. Telephone the Police Switch Board on ‘101’ and inform them that you have set off the ‘Parkside Medical Centre Security Alarm’ by mistake and informed the Monitoring station who will be confirming a false alarm.

 In order to safeguard the safety of employees in case of a fire the routes to emergency exits from work places and exits themselves are to be kept clear at all times.

Escape routes from the Practice are as follows:

• 1. Main Entrance/Exit

  2. Staff Entrance/Exit

  3. Pharmacy Entrance/Exit

  4. Nurse’s Waiting Area Entrance/Exit

  5. Surgical Centre/Theatre Entrance/Exit

  6. Theatre Stairs Exit (Leading to clinical waste bins)
