Parent volunteers are the lifeblood of any Cub Scout Pack. We depend on our parents to step up and help on numerous levels. Without your help, our program would be limited and our Scouts would be missing out on the great fun that Scouting offers.
You don't have to be a registered leader to help. We can always use help. As an example, here are some of those roles. While we have parents already helping with some of these jobs, the more we have helping, the better!
At Pack Meetings to
Setup before a meeting. 10 minutes.
Man the back table. 45 minutes, once a month.
Help run a station. 30 minutes.
Clean up after a meeting. 10 minutes.
At Pinewood Derby and Practice to
Man and run the track (would be nice to have shifts!). 1-2 hours, twice a year.
Participate on the Camping Committee. 1.5 hours weekly for about 4 weeks prior to a campout.
Medical Form Coordinator. 1-3 hours a month.
Training Chair. 1-3 hours a month.
Photographer. Participate in Pack events as possible. An extra hour a month processing/uploading images taken.
Becoming a Trained Leader It is easy to become a Trained Leader in Boy Scouts. Most positions can take all required training online - so you can take the courses at your own pace.
Talk to the Pack Cubmaster or Committee Chair about your interest.
Follow the initial steps documented on the New Member Checklist
The Committee Chair or Webmaster will help you learn the tools we have at our disposal to make life easier.
When you get your official BSA number you should plug it into your myscouting.org account. (This helps at the end of the year when it comes time to re-charter our Pack.)
The more parents the better the program and the more rewarding it is for everyone.
