We arrived early at school and we met there our Czech, French, German, Polish and Scottish friends. Before entering the building, every European team of teachers and students took a picture with its own flag in the school courtyard.
The Official Welcome was given by the school deputy, Mr. D Crudo and by the responsible of the project Mrs. D. Contrafatto. She offered a symbolic gift to us and our teachers: a small jar filled with Sicilian golden sand, a small piece of lava stone and a greeting message. Then the teachers explained the brand game to break the ice and let us find out our international group as our names were written on a paper stuck on each desk.
The first activity “Who R U” was quite funny because all the members of each group learned to know each other asking and answering 4 questions on like/dislikes and dream. We were also asked to give each group a name which could give an idea of our mixed personalities and to write it under our group picture as we had to take one in our favourite corner of the school that we had to explore for this reason, while our teacher were visiting the Chemistry lab and making soaps.
The five groups’ names were: Namanama, The Group, The Yellow Ducks, Tappo and Pink Fluffy Unicorns. We were satisfied but a bit hungry so we had a coffee break with Sicilian traditional sweets in the school cafeteria.
Then we saw videos on jobs and companies in all the countries involved in the project. Each team presented its slides with the history of its own national firms or companies.
After lunch with our teachers and friends, we started soon to work, at 15:00 because every student had to write his/her CV, ELP and a cover letter according to the Europass form.
We were split into two main groups to work in two different labs and only when we finished everything we could come back home to relax before going around.
