We met at 9:00 in the morning at school. The Italian teachers explained us the working activities and we carefully listened to their instructions to create a logo for a brand of our own.
We learned that a brand is seen as the company’s most valuable assets as it represents the face of the company together with its logo. After a brainstorming activity, we chose our brand and devised the most suitable logo for it.
We worked hard because the aim of each international team was to win the competition, designing the best logo which could convey all the characteristics of the company. The results were 5 captivating logos: “Faster and Safer” for an insurance company whose brand was a tyre on fire with a lock; “Shot-fresh”, a round slice of an orange for a firm of orange-juice, “Tappo-chocolate” for some new chocolate sweets; “king’s watch” for luxury and expensive watches linked to the tagline “time to time” and a new game whose tagline is “break ut”.
We spent a lot of time trying to draw the best image and to match it with the most meaningful tagline but the best was the logo “Faster and safer”. They won because they succeeded in designing an iconic brand which conveyed the idea of speed and safety that must always come first.
The second activity was easier for us as we had to summarize every single day of the week even though this activity made us feel the sadness of the near ending because we suddenly became aware that those were the last moments we could share.
In spite of the bitter and sad feelings, we tried to do our best trying to put in black and white all the experiences we share. Then we voted the best trailers, and waited for the results of all the competitions.
As usual we had lunch all together, tasting other delicious Sicilian traditional dishes.
After lunch we came back to the room where we used to work for the official award and farewell ceremony. The Italian headmistress delivered us the prizes and each team of the six European partners was taken a photo with her, its own country flag and the meeting certificates.
Finally, after the formal farewell it was party time… our multicultural party! It was a big surprise the live band of the Italian students and we had great fun singing and dancing all together. Some of the teachers joined us, somebody else tried to resist as long as he/she could. We had dinner with Sicilian street finger food and Polish, Czech, French, Scottish and German food. We especially enjoyed the French cheese, the German chocolate, the Polish and Czech savoury snacks and the Scottish chips haggis flavored.
