Everybody was in the bus at 6:30 and the day in Lyon began the morning in the old city.
We discovered the old town stopping at important places, and the first one was the lawyers’ house. This is a renaissance building influenced by the Italians with typical windows as we will see during the tour.
We went to the shop La Marquise which sells traditional pink pralines and the green “pillows”. We also went in the cathedral St John the Baptist with the big clock inside.
Then we saw St George bar with all the festivities around the new wine Beaujolais. In the streets were drawn many Guignols, a very famous puppet in this town.
After the lunch we went to Confluence, a new area of Lyon. This place respects sustainable development requirements. The first aspect is the ecologic one: for building this area, they used boats rather than trucks. Then they made facilities for the rainwater recuperation and many solar panels on almost every buildings. They used new materials too, like terracotta, stainless steel or concrete. There are a lot of green spaces, first for the inhabitants but also for the public and the wild animals too, like the fallows next to the river. The second is the social aspect, that’s why there are social houses mixed with the others. To create this area, many europeans architects worked together. This project began in 2003 and isn’t already finished. After the visit we had a free time and then we came back to Champagnole.
