My Italian heritage is from the Derossi lineage, my most direct ancestors are from the town of Trieste. "Derossi" translates to "of the rose."
Actress Portia de Rossi borrowed my family name when she began her acting career. Her real name is Amanda Lee Rogers and she is Australian.
The Irish folksong "There Were Roses," is also one of my favorites, about the the tragedy of wars, especially religious wars, between people and the friendships that die that might have otherwise flourished. Instead, we drown in our mutual tears. It's a great morose song (scroll down for the YouTube).
