SSSI site condition monitoring work

The NGP was commissioned by Natural England via The Geology Trusts to carry out site condition surveying work on five sites in Norfolk: Glandford Hurdle Lane, Grimes Graves, Happisburgh, Morston Cliff and Mundesley. The work was carried out by Gilbert Addison and Tim Holt-Wilson, with kind permission of the landowners.

Geoconservation: principles and practice

Natural England has published an updated edition of the handbook 'Geoconservation: Principles and practice'.

It sets out why geoconservation matters, who benefits, and how sites are selected and monitored. It focuses on the principles and practice of delivering geoconservation on the ground. It explores the threats which arise, approaches to site management, and the positive opportunities to deliver geoconservation which sometimes occur as a result of development proposals or land use change.

It is available to download as the full publication (100 Mb) or in three parts (between 30 Mb and 70 Mb each) from the Natural England catalogue, see Geoconservation: Principles and practice - NE802 (nepubprod.appspot.com).
