By putting some restrictions on how much information can be used and for how long, we can actually encourage a more focused, interesting presentation. Here's a couple of presentation types (often known as "lightning talks") which I have seen used at conferences I have attended, and they are very effective.

Ignite

Presenters have 20 slides, which automatically advance every 15 seconds, for a total presentation time of 5 minutes.

PechaKucha

Presenters show 20 slides (could be images only, for example), each for 20 seconds (6 minutes 40 seconds total). The slides advance automatically as you talk alongside them.

As you can see, this creates a very concise presentation, which in turn helps the presenter to stay on point and to choose the very best materials to present. Think of it like an "elevator pitch" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevator_pitch). Plus, it's fun - both for the presenter (who has a challenge) and for the receiver (in this case, you, the teacher!) Note that it is not the technology that you use here that matters, so we can still be using tools like PowerPoint, Prezi, or Google Slides. VoiceThread, a product that the high school has a subscription to, has the added advantage of making these kinds of presentations easy to set up.
