IF you recall the story of The of Isaac & Ishmael

Ishmael is a Hebrew baby name. In Hebrew the meaning of the name Ishmael is: God listens. In the bible Ishmael was son of Abraham by Sarah's Egyptian slave woman Hagar.

Therefore Ishmael was his first born son but "NOT" Heir nor was he of the BLOODLINE  of the Birthright. That is the person legally entitled to the property  Of Abraham  after his death. Ishmael was in fact his adopted son in this regard.  But the Blessing of the Covenant see above was to be & was always Isaac's
