As you enter into Corvallis, past the guard who is very surprised to see you and a bit intimidated by how you deftly passed him, you see that while the town is intact there are many subtle changes that have been wrought giving you the impression the town is getting ready for trouble.
To your left Dorm 0 has been rebuilt, but is more concrete and scrap metal than the old log-cabin styled building that was burned down so long ago. The training rooms to the right are still there, but a chain lock keeps the door closed. The Dorm buildings are all there, but metal shutters have been added to all the lower floor windows.
The towers at the corner has been fortified further with angled walls, with the theory that rocket attacks could be better deflected.
You notice additional sand-bag positions around the area, and the wires that had been strung across the open areas are now sporting old holiday lights. The fire truck has been surrounded by a short wall as it is parked by the fully repaired .
The lab/research facility has been repaired and the lower floor windows are now barred and you see through the smoked glass hints that they may have metal shutters on the inside.
People though in general seem to be in high spirits as they move around the campus grounds, while a couple of Rangers mingle amongst them.
A pair of traders has set up shop out front of Dorm 0, whom you do not recognize, a woman in her late 30's with a tribal complexion seems to be selling cooking goods and meat jerky. Another woman with blonde hair seems to be selling sea-shells and dried fish.
But these are probably simply distractions from your purpose, your true destination.
As you approach the Facility there is a sudden commotion, and the doors fling open and two guards in combat armor uncermoniously toss a male ghoul to the courtyard. As the door slams shut behind them the ghoul stands up, raises his fist to the build and yells in a course gravelly voice "I will kill you Dr. Preacher!"
He takes a deep breath and continues "I will avenge my sister you sick f*!"
This draws the gaze of pretty much everyone in the commons, and the glare from the guards make it clear he is not welcome back inside.
As he dusts his brahmin hide pants and tattered shirt off, he recognizes everyone is staring at him he speaks loud enough to be heard "What are you all look'n at, you f'n smoothskins?"
Moving to the shadows she watched him enter the newly rebuilt Dorm 0. Following him into his room like his very own shadow and defeating the poorly locked door watched through the crack of the door as he held a tattered book in his hand as his shoulders shook and his breath became labored and raspy (er). Entering with her weapons ready, but not drawn, she confronted the Ghoul.
"what is it you want with Dr. Preacher?" She asked.
He responded, that Dr. Preacher was responsible for the murder of his sister, Kathy. That a few weeks ago the merchant Tandy came to their town (a place he hesitates to tell her about), offering a few hundred caps for a female ghoul to accompany her to Corvallis for a research project. He (his name is Martin) and his sister were behind on rent and so she accompanied the trader Tandy Moore to town, but she has not come home for some time and he came to find out what happened and when he got to Dr. Preacher he saw the jars of body parts in his office and "knew" what happened, and kind of lost his temper and cool and then the robots secured him and the guards tossed him out.
Grim offered to help "as an interested party."
From there she arrived in the labs and after a brief brush with Professor O'Dee she escaped his conversational lock in to arrive at the door of her Dark love.
Jeeves and Igor were making chems, but there are signs Preacher has been busy preparing for a wedding (black candles are found, a note about drying flowers in the oven didn’t work, the burned down church will need to have benches installed and the ashes swept out). Dr. Preacher is here and is pleased (as only a sinsister man could be) to see Grim return, the room temperature drops the lights flicker ominously and the room goes dark when they touch. – After some time with his love (who he knew she was alive as long as the sun did set and darkness crept across the land), he can explain that, yes, he had Tandy Moore stop by a location she said was inhabited by friendly “safe” ghouls and with a small fortune of caps have her escort a female ghoul of them down here for research purposes, he worked with Jim and the other subject, Kathy, to study what made a ghoul a ghoul and why males were more prevalent of the species, at this point the research is still in progress but he made sure she was well compensated and escorted back home by a travelling mercenary named Edgar who had just arrived in town with Red Hawk, a lanky chap with a snipers rifle.
With this news, Grim having extracted herself from their time together, made her way to meet the rest of the Gotham Knights outside.
