4/25/84 Interludes
1- (2) Ambushed in the ruins of Eugene the group fights strange psuedo-Remote Controlled robots that looked like giant metal centipedes that could self-replicate (think Warmachine's Cankerworm). Afterwards ACE tells a funny anecdote about an RC toy robot that could only say "kill," it was Grim's favorite toy, that ACE had to sadly put down with her lucky wrench.
2 - (8) BW continues his trend of suffering injuries during interludes, this time a sprained ankle, which Doc ridicules him for, telling him to "walk it off."
3 - (9) Doc is reminded of his first time with a woman as he glanced across a hellblasted wasteland.
4 - (Jack) Wayne shared a funny anecdote about how he was responsible for that night that happened to Doc, by sending that woman to Doc, while he got it on with her much prettier roommate.
5- (Joker) Grim leads the team into a General Atomics research facility, and after ACE hacked a terminal to grant them access to lower levels, and BW fought off several waves of Brain Bots and Doc healed him of the injuries receives, and lastly Wayne seducing the security protocol system, Grim entered the research lab and recovered a pair goggles that improve her already lethal accuracy (+2 to shooting skill, takes an action to activate them).
4/26/84 Coal Power/Shadowman's Fall.
Observe the Green Range power plant from a distance, spotting good defenses and strange antenna on the towers (opposite of ShadowMans view), watch Die Cast approach and do business. Intercept Die Cast and learn about the folks inside are well armed and well maintained, and have a good selection of drugs to trade..
Approach and after dealing with body-doubles, and their own reputation as fearsome killers, the group finally meets Coal and Ice, AKA Dr. Jessica Wendell.
They tell their story, ask for groups assistance, group agrees to help.
Coal's raiders are actually pretty stable, and seemed well trained, they patrol the area and challenged any who approach before opening fire from their sand-bagged positions. Still, assault rifles and leather armor with metal helmets seem to be the gear of choice.
Ice is a scientist/surgeon in the Cybernetics field (who will go off on tangets about her work if its brought up). Coal is very charismatic and oozes charisma, and seemingly well mannered, he wears all metal armor, and is armed with a pair of plasma pistols.
They explain ShadowMan is a monster, a puppet of a machine with the same name, Ice will explain she is from a time before the war, stored at great lengths cryogenically. Shadow Man needs to be stopped, his plan of pushing back the anarchy of Eugene is to bring everyone under his control.
Ice only learned of this when she began working on Coal, Shadowman's latest puppet project and she fell in love with him, and he with her. (The love was mutual and was very clear).
Coal and Ice say at this point they had been hiding out for almost a year, coming up with a plan, and establishing the appropriate man power to carry it through as well as try to trade for the items they need. Ice knows the layout of the Skinners Butte vault, and is aware there are three possible ways in, through an underwater pipe that takes you to the reactor room - so rad-x is a must (this how she and Coal escaped, but they do not have any and getting it in trade is proving troublesome, so their plan was to find the Med-Tek facility), through the throne tent's manhole cover (thus a massive firefight with the raiders, hence needing more men and better guns and armor), or try to find an entrance though the tunnels (something they have not explored, but is theorectically possible, but unlikely as the tunnels were collapsed to prevent such a risk). Once inside there are turret and sentry bot defenders, but these could be easily dealt with a supply of Pulse grenades, which Coal is trying to get through various channels from Corvallis. Then to destroy Shadow Man, without killing all the other scientists, a localized EMP pulse (so about a dozen pulse grenades outside his sealed door should finish him). If the Group undertake this task, Ice assures them of the same reward ShadowMan promised, without the "side effects".
The group explained that they had come from Med-Tek labs and already had the proof and the Pulse Grenades needed to make this happen. So with that they enact the plan to infiltrate the base, but before doing so ACE spends some quality time at the workbench here to make her own Tesla Cannon (Bolt power with EMP Properties), using bits of the powerplant to aid her design, to which she gives to BW to use with some concern.
That night, the group swims into Site B via the reactor outflow pipe with heavy doses of Rad-X pumping through their veins (which sent Waynes senses all tingling as it was dark, in unseen depths in a tight tunnel against a current).
Arrive in reactor room, while Grim scouts ahead, the group captures and binds a pair of scientists out on private time. Discover the only Nuka Cola Tastee-Freeze Machine in the whole west coast is here. ACE has a new love in life.
Then the knights proceed with slaughtering turrets and sentry bots before planting Pulse grenades, in anticipation of destroying ShadowMan, but not before BW has to fight his latest puppet, who had climbed down the access tube, in hand to hand combat as his friends provide assisting fire support.
Shadowman desperately tries to convince the party to come back to his side, but to no avail. For the Knights believe Coal can bring order here, where as Shadowman would only bring tyranny. With that a massive electrical pulse silenced Shadowman forever.
To celebrate, the Group all enjoyed a hefty amount of Tastee-Freeze nuka-cola and the resulting brain-freezes, for many this was their first time enjoying the delicious freshness that was Nuka Cola.
4/27/84 Aftermath
Get Coal and Ice to come to Skinners Butte where the carnage was complete, as it appeared the emissaries went berserk upon being released from control and physically tore most of Shadowman's forces to shreds before being slaughtered themselves by the tattered remenants who have scattered into the ruins and rubble of Eugene. Ice begins to work with the other scientists, convincing them it is time to help the wasteland instead of being pawns of Shadowman's plans. Meanwhile Coal and his associates begin to establish order on the Butte, cleaning up the carnage with the help of the Knights. Ice helps ACE research more into the mysterious third party that Shadowman was uploading updates of Vault 33 to.
****IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT WAS MISSED IN LAST SESSION (cause I was tired)*****
While no specific name is given it does provide a "communications log" that Shadowman was connecting to "PosiedoNet" via a satellite up-link, when looking closer at the log, ACE noticed that the frequency being used was one that was near where Professor Preston was researching with the aid of the Chronometer XJ5008.
4/28-30/84 The Quickening
Medical Rest days, each day members of the group undergo surgical augmentation and gain Wired Reflexes (the Quick Edge - redraw initiative cards 5 or less).
5/1/84 Heading Out
After reuniting with Bessie and Nukey, the group strips all but one of the signal boosters from the walls of Shadowman's fortress, along with a good collection of loot (laser rifles, energy cells for plasma and laser weapons) from the lockers below and make their way out of Eugene and on to their next adventure, knowing that they have forever changed the fate of Eugene.
PCs gain 2xp and 1 FAME.
