So Fallout falls into a category of terrain that is not easily supported by most terrain manufacturers.
First it is not fantasy- the largest singular terrain category out there. There is tons of stuff for fantasy out there from dungeon caves to town buildings. Second it is not futuristic with gleaming halls and strange curves or gothic buildings and epic wars. It is the 1950s psuedo modern that has been "trashed." It is a niche of terrain that can be hard to fill.
So when I decided that I wanted to run Fallout I really gave some thought on how I would approach terrain for the game.
Since Savage Worlds relies heavily on miniatures for combat, as ranges for weapons are listed in inches instead of feet, I decided that I would build a collection of terrain that would support the use of miniatures. I decided there would be 3-d terrain for any outside combat, 2.5-D terrain for specific and planned encounters, and flat terrain everywhere else. 2.5D terrain is where I would use pre-printed tiles and have some terrain elements to decorate the scene and provide clearly visible cover, but would not be full 3-d buildings nor would it be something drawn on the battlemat.
So I sat down and made a list of what cool outdoor things existed in the fallout universe that I would try to make, and instead of making them haphazardly I would focus on "scenes" and what elements make up that scene.
So the list I came up with was the following:
Scenes
-specific items
Middle of Nowhere
-Hills http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1030015&prodId=prod1095510 and http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1095511

-boxes and barrels - so many companies make resin boxes and crates, and from the paper terrain sets ebbles and world works has them as well included in the purchases, so if you go the paper terrain route you are set, if you like the heft and weight of resin there are several companies making them as well
-Doors - I went with paper terrain here and I looked around and found the largest selection of paper doors in a single product - there are cheaper ones out there that will work just as good (look at mega minis on www.RPGNOW.com but I went with this product http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=28137&it=1 from 12 to Midnight as it has many door choices from modern to sci-fi)

-A Villain's Stronghold - Sadly the product that I am using for this is no longer in print, and the company that made this and a whole bunch of other awesome cardstock terrain is no longer in business, so I appologize to all and any who love this but cannot find it.
