This is a technical project which involves primary and secondary colours. Primary colours are: Red, Yellow and Blue and come straight from the paint containers. The secondary colours (Orange, Green and Purple) are ones you will need to mix yourself from the primary colours. This is done on the paper, not on the mixing palette. You will obviously need to work while your paint is still wet as dry paint will not mix.
You also need to be careful that you start with the lightest colour first. If you start with the dark colour you will have difficulty creating an even blend. The aim of this exercise is to evenly blend from one colour into another creating a colour graduation.
You will notice that we have 2 different yellows, two different blues and two different reds. The reason for this is that the secondary colours work best if they are mixed with certain primary colours. Use the following as a guide:
Orange = Warm Red and Warm Yellow
Green = Cool Yellow and Cool Blue
Purple = Cool Red and Warm Blue.
Once you have finished your line blend you will be ready to cut it out and glue it into your Visual Diary with a heading "Line Blend". Your work is now ready for assessment and you are ready to start your next assignment. The Abstract Painting.
