Company Name and Logo Project
This project is a part of the packaging project and is to be done using the Adobe Photoshop program. As you have already decided on your product and your company name, you can begin work on creating your logo. Follow the step by step instructions. After you have made a suitable logo, you will need to resize it to suit your package. If it is placed in Mr. Corby’s To Teacher folder it can be printed in colour to add to your final package layout.
Other features of the packaging project may be acquired during this I.T session:
- Visuals
- Bar-code
- Product name
- Product information.
Doing Your Own Company Logo Design
The first thing to do is to open Adobe Photoshop and select "New" in the File menu. You need to name the file and set the size of the file to 3cmx2cm and the resolution to 300 pixel / inch. It should look like the following picture before you press OK.
Don't forget to save the file to your Art Folder. The following steps are adapted from a PhotoShop tutorial. Use them as a guide:

Start by using the Text Tool and typing the main word of your company name. Select a darkish or midtone colour, and choose a serif (curly-edged) font such as Palatino Linotype or Times New Roman. Use all capitals, and slightly enlarge the first letter.

Using the same font, put the rest of your company name, or some other descriptive phrase, underneath the main header. Use a much smaller font size, and increase the letter spacing by typing a high number into the "Tracking" box. (Alternatively, you can just put a space between each letter.)
3 – Adding a graphic element to your company logo design
With just words your logo design will look dull.
4 – Adding a horizontal border to your company logo
A black border like this will help accentuate the colours in your logo design. With your background colour set to black, use the line tool to add a border. A thinner underline works well with your subtext.
5 – Watermarking your company logo
If you don't already have a small image you'd like to use, you can use Google images to find a suitable picture to enhance your logo.
Another option is to use the Text Tool, and type a couple of character in the Wingdings font. You will need to choose a large size font.
You will need to alter the opacity of the image or windings font so that it doesn’t overpower the text.
6 – Adding some effects
To add some effects, work on the "layer" you wish to alter and go to the “filters” menu.
