For this project we will not be taking our paints and palettes outside to match the colours in the true "Plein-Air" style of the French Impressionists or the artists of the Australian Heidelberg School but we will be painting in a similar style.
The aim is to produce a painting which has a similar appearance to the impressionist style. We will choose a traditional painting or a photograph to base our painting on. You can use either a landscape or a portrait. Instead of copying the picture accurately, we will copy it using "Dabs" and short strokes with our paint brushes. We will be more concerned with overall effect of colour and shade than detail. The finished painting will be mounted on black paper.
