Blind is the second full-length album by The SUNDAYS. It was released by Parlophone on October 19, 1992 in the UK, and then in the US by Geffen the following day, October 20. So a quick follow-up to the album's first single, Goodbye, which was released September 14th, about a month earlier. The SUNDAYS had signed to Parlophone when Rough Trade's distribution group crashed at the beginning of 1992. The 11-trk album was recorded in North London and co-produced by Dave Anderson. Dave Anderson is known for his production work with Ocean Colour Scene, Superstar, Edwyn Collins, David Gray, and as an engineer/mixer for Fine Young Cannibals, Aztec Camera, Bernard Butler, Style Council, and Alison Moyet. Among others.
The artwork for Blind was conceived by the band themselves. The cover shot features an old fashioned doll. Harriet told Melody Maker: "It's not used in a spooky, Mission type way. It's almost statue-like. Just something we found in an old junk shop up the road." (Melody Maker)
In the UK, there was only one official single from the album, Goodbye, whereas in the US, Geffen released Love and Wild Horses. Some releases of Blind - the US/Canadian and Japanese editions, in particular - also included Wild Horses as the 12th track on the album. But for the most part, on a global basis, there doesn't seem to be any variation in track order or cover sleeves. EMI runs a tight ship it seems but they did provide a couple interesting promos in support of the album and later even released a 2 CD set containing Blind and Reading.
