Bus Service Use Since COVID

The chart shows passenger numbers collected by 37 bus users since June 2021, when we started monitoring bus use following the period that the service was completely closed because of COVID lockdown. The data we have acquired since then is mainly for the AM services between Newark and North Muskham. You can check the data at https://bit.ly/3fB52Rp

In February 2023 NCC told us they were"stepping in" to save Marshalls 37 bus service which"would otherwise be withdrawn" ... but for how long?

As argued in the Our Buses report carried out for our Parish Council just before COVID, our bus service is a vital facility for particular subsets of our village population.  The chart above shows data collected since June 2021 - it shows that almost three quarters of  bus journeys appear to be made by 60+ residents, with 60+ women making almost twice as many journeys  as 60+ men. Since 2021 there has been a gradual increase in the Under 60 age group.

Any deterioration in the service would have negative effects on access to NHS at Sutton and, in Newark, to the many services we don’t have here!  Our area is in the 10% most deprived  on the Barriers to Housing & Services Domain of the government's Indices of Deprivation ... !
