Nomination Information
Students are selected through a nomination process by their teacher, there is no audition. Using a nomination form for either band or chorus, teachers rate each student's skills performing a "benchmark" piece. Nomination Forms are submitted by the deadline given each year to the manager of the band or chorus, as appropriate. The managers then select students based on the nomination rating as well as other factors, such as endeavoring to achieve an overall balance of instrumentation and voice parts, representation of a student from each school, etc. Teachers are asked to nominate only their top students as this festival has been quite popular. Students can be nominated only for ONE ensemble: either the band or the chorus. Please coordinate with the other teachers at your school to make sure students are not nominated twice. Choral students should be treble voice.
Nomination Deadline: TBD
Teachers will be notified by email as soon as the festival managers have chosen well-balanced group.

Music Distribution and Preparation
Once students have been accepted for the festival, music will be mailed to their school. Students are expected to learn the music well before attending the festival. Chorus students need to memorize their music. This music, selected by guest conductors and purchased for performance at the festivals, is collected at the end of the festival and stored in the District 3 Music Library for use by District 3 members or for future Festival use. Schools are billed for music not returned.
