Distinguished Service Award
Criteria
The Distinguished Service Award is presented by the District Chair to one member of District 3 per year at the Fall Meeting. If the member is not at the Fall Meeting, the award will still be announced with actual presentation postponed until a future convenient date, perhaps at the member's fall or winter concert.
Selection of members to receive the District 3 Distinguished Service Award is at the sole discretion of the District Chair, using the following criteria:
Length of service: Member has actively participated in District 3 activities for no less than 10 years.
Consistency: Member has shown consistent interest in District 3 and volunteers for positions on a consistent basis. (i.e. has their name listed next to some job on the web site more often than not.)
Variety: Member has served in a variety of positions - host/manager, appointed, elected
Leadership: Member has assumed leadership positions within the District or has taken a leadership role in positions that don't necessarily require it (e.g. an auditions manager who works to change/improve/redefine the audition requirements instead of going with the status quo or a chorus manager who works to better define the sight reading requirements).
Creativity: Member has worked to find creative solutions to problems within District 3.
Collegiality: Member has done all of the above and most of the rest of the members of the District are still engaging with them.
Membership: Recipients should also be members of MMEA/NAfME to be eligible for this award.
