Introduction

A daz script to build custom Japanese-style screen/door/walls

if you downloaded Version 1, get Version 2, it contains new features and a small fix ( position of the vertical bars )

important: this script will only work if you install the mcjPlank.pp2 prop correctly

Installation

installing the script

The zip package is found at the bottom of this page

unzip it in your daz content folder,

typically :

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

once installed, it will appear in your content library, under

The Daz Script will be found in My Library / Scripts / mcasual

Starting with Windows 7 if you right click on the downloaded zip file

and select the [Extract All ....] pop-up menu item

you simply browse up to your Daz Studio Content Folder

and the files will fall in the proper folder

installing the mcjPlank prop

important: this script will only work if you install the mcjPlank.pp2 prop correctly

mcjPlank is a poser/daz compatible prop, a 2cmx2cm cube with rounded edges

the UV Mapping looks good even when stretched

the prop comprises 7 morphs that let us resize it without affecting edge roundness

although the script doesn't use this feature you can adjust the roundness of the edges

Use

Run the Script

Use the sliders in the "Wood stock by Lumber Jacques" section to specify the dimensions of the elements making the screen

if the "Unit is inches" checkbox is not check-marked, the units are centimeters

if the "iRay Class Shader" is check-marked and you do have the iRay glass shader bundled with

Daz Studio 4.5+ then that shader will be applied to the glass element of the screen

if the "iRay Class Shader" is not check-marked then a basic semi-travsparent material is used.

Use the sliders in the "Assembly" section to specify the number of columns and the number of rows for the grid

The "Disk Write Settings" button allows you to save the state of all your sliders in a text file on disk'

The "Disk Read Settings" button allows you to retrieve the state of all your sliders from a text file on disk'

The "Web Help" buttons will bring you back to the web page you are currently reading.

It's a good idea to visit this page a few times after the initial release since i fix bugs as users find them and i sometimes add functionalities

A missing wood texture file was added to the mcjPlank prop

A new "Sharp Edges" slider was added to soften the edges of the wood pieces

The root node of the prop is now the "glass" plate, which makes selection easy

Placement of the vertical bars was corrected
